In August of 1993, I competed in the National Masters Track and Field Championships in Provo, Utah. I used a need to acclimate to the altitude as an excuse for another trip to Colorado. My wife and I camped at the Halfmoon campground between Mount Massive and Mount Elbert. She stayed in camp, while I hiked to the summit of Massive.

I hiked north on the Colorado Trail to the Mount Massive trail, then headed up. It was a rather uneventful hike, with warm weather and blue skies. I approached the summit from slightly to the south. On the descent, I decided to follow a spur to the east before cutting south to get back on the trail. A nice hike.
